Top 5 Rainy Day Kids Activities on Maui

Updated: Sep 11, 2020

There are several activities to enjoy on Maui with the kiddos when it gets rainy, and you can't head to the beach. Here are some top choices that I like to do with my keiki (child):

Maui Ocean Center- aquarium in Wailuku, I have an annual pass that is totally worth it, if you are Kamaaina (local). We try to go once a week, and there's still so much to do and see. They have events throughout the day. There is also an area for kids to play and to make new friends.

Humpback Whale Sanctuary- located in South Kihei, the whole family can learn about the efforts by NOAA, the State of Hawaiʻi, and others to protect humpback whales, monk seals, sea turtles, and coral reefs. There is an activity center for the kids to color, read and play.

Ultimate Air Maui- A huge trampoline park located in Wailuku. On Mondays and Fridays they have toddler hours from 11am-1pm. My daughter gets so tired just after an hour of jumping! It's great exercise for the whole family.

Keiki Playhouse- Located upstairs at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center next to the theater. You can either drop off the little one (to go shopping/date night) or join them for an additional $3. I have been here about 4 times with my daughter, and noticed that the staff truly cares about the keikis. I have dropped her off multiple times and she loves going there to play with the other children and staff.

Public Library- Each branch has story time that is perfect for the little ones. Our favorite branch is the one in Kihei, it's a decent size and they have arts and crafts to keep them busy.
